Time for a change.

Over the past month or so I was becoming increasingly irritated and discouraged by blogging. It seemed like every new blog I found was obsessed with the same thing, more "followers" which is fine I totally understand if you are a "for pay" blog. Also keep in mind there are plenty of genuine people out there(I've found a few) but I found myself trying to emulate these people's blogs, and when I stopped and thought about it, i dont really like some of these people...but I was trying to play the game.

I've been keeping an online journal since I was 16. Livejournal was new, "blog" was definitely not a cool word, and people gave me shit about sharing my life with strangers...I talked to Ed about it and realized I liked blogging back then because I was doing it for me. I didn't know who read it, but I was doing it to keep a record for me and Ed to go back and look through. Of course I love connecting with people and hearing what you have to say, but my blog is not about numbers. So no more schedules, no more links, no more buttons and definitely no more advertising! There are many blogs that I love to read but I dont want to make a list that would exclude anyone or have anyone hang around me that was just commenting in hopes of getting more visits to their blog. Most importantly less focus on my blog and more focus on my work. Hopefully this makes sense :)

Now, onto more change!

I'm changing the name of my shop and blog D: Oh my goodness, it's scary! I tried once to change my shop name a couple years ago but then I chickened out. I know that a lot of people like Danielleorama but I don't love having my name in the title. What gave me the final push to do it was my .net expired and i didn't have the login to renew it...so i thought ok fresh start! I brainstormed for a few days on words that I liked and one day before I got out of bed I was thinking what is something about me that will not change, a word that I feel speaks about me.."cute". I absolutely love cute things, to be surrounded by them and make them, then I tried to think of a word that would sort of juxtapose it, and all of a sudden "Theory of Cute" popped into my head. I was blown away when i saw the domain wasn't taken. I quickly bought it, made a new etsy shop, and ordered some new labels for plush. I feel like this change is exactly what i need to start 2012.

It's going to be very scary starting over after acquiring 483 hard earned sales and 100% positive feedback! I've almost chickened out a few times but as I was laying in bed last night I promised myself I'd do it, just jump!

So there you have it, welcome to my new blog...I'm still working on stock for the shop. I feel great and super motivated to get to work!

2011 our year in review

January:

-We started out the year with a new kitty, Tammy was just a few months old and we were definitely

feeling the cramped-ness of 3 cats in our little apartment.

-Super Meat Boys success was exceeding our expectations and we decided to contact a realtor.

-After we realized how long it would take to go through everything involved in buying a home we

decided we should move into something a little nicer so we could be comfortable while we looked

and waited. We had been in our old apartment for 5 years, there was mold, air came through the

doors and windows and I'm not exaggerating when I say I would get a sinus infection every month!

February:

-We moved into our temporary house and bought all sorts of magical stuff, a new bed! a dresser

(no,we never had one!) A knife set, knives that don't wiggle when you cut! and new pans that were

flat on the bottom and cooked evenly. People have asked us if it felt strange to have out life

change so drastically. I think Ed was more uncomfortable with having money but I welcomed every

bit of ease it brought, I was always happy before and never considered us to be poor, I always

knew he would do something great so I just went with it.

-We had a lovely valentines day and we replaced my old wedding ring with a very beautiful custom

ring. It was so awesome to be making something at a jewelers that I always loved looking in

the windows of. We had McDonalds for dinner :)

-We thought we'd have a few months to relax and casually house hunt but immediately our dream

house popped back up and we made an offer.

-We bought a washer and dryer, doing laundry without leaving the house is probably one of

the best things ever.

-Oh yeah, we were playing a lot of Call of Duty Black Ops.

March:

-I didn't update my blog at all in March. We went into escrow and were super busy with tax and loan stuff.

-Ed turned 31!

April:

-We closed Escrow on April 8th and started preparing the house to move in. A little new paint

and no more carpet, a teeny bit of landscaping and we were ready to go.

-We moved in on Saturday April 30th. The cats took to the new house really well and you could tell they loved having so much space to run around, Guppy acted like he had finally arrived.

May:

-We were settling into the house and I started updating my blog more regularly. I hadn't done

much with my studio and was still sewing in the dining room.

-We bought a treadmill and we walk on it regularly when the garage isn't freezing cold.

June:

-We were adjusting very well in the new house and started getting out a lot. We hit the thrift stores pretty often and started a project we had wanted to do for a while.

-The Kickstarter for Indie Game: The Movie went up and got A LOT of attention, they well surpassed their goal very quickly.

-We got super into board games after reconnecting with our favorite "couple friends" and have a pretty good collection going.

July:

-Tommy came to visit and was here for a few months while he looked for a place in San Francisco and bought his dream car, a bright orange Tesla. It was so weird having so much room for a guest to stay, I couldn't believe he used to stay with us in our old apartment.

-I paid off all of my debt.

-Ed bought a lot of legos.

-I was officially a Blonde, just having a few remaining bits of pink hanging around.

-Ed started working on The Binding of Issac, what he thought would be a small, week long development game. Ha!

August:

-Jamie visits, we hit all the places to sight see in Santa Cruz and get our long awaited "hobo ghost kitty" tattoos. I also add a little meat boy and bandage girl to my wrist.

-Acacia turned 5 and started kindergarten!

-I made the Isaac and Cain plush prototypes, started sewing in my studio and fixing it up.

-Jamie and Lisanne visit and show us the final cut of Indie Game: The Movie, it's amazing and also made me feel like I had post traumatic stress syndrome D:

-I turned 27!

September:

-We went to the County Fair and got kissed by a seal.

-We got an arcade cabinet

-Eli turned 3!

-3 months later, The Binding of Isaac came out on Steam. It turned into a much bigger project than Ed had imagined.

October:

-We celebrated our 12 year anniversary!

-I got my eyebrows waxed for the first time.

-We decided to get a fourth cat.

-Super Meat Boy had it's 1 year anniversary on Xbox.

-We dressed the cat's up and carved pumpkins for the first time in a long time. We decorated the front of our house but only got 2 trick or treaters :/

November:

-We picked up Cricket from the airport, our 4th cats and 2nd sphynx (also Tammy's sister).
-We finally met both of Tommy's parents even thought it felt like we'd known them forever :)

-Indie Game: the Movie was announced as an official selection of the Sundance Film Festival.

December:

-Meat Boy goes Platinum!

-By the end of the year The Binding of Isaac will have sold over 300,000 copies, again exceeding our expectations for this little game!

-We could only wait till the 6th to open our xmas presents :x

-We had our very first xmas eve at our house with all of our family and it was amazing!

Well, this year was amazing and seemed to go by so fast. I'm really looking forward to 2012, I hope to be super productive and motivated. See you next year with a little news!

The last present I opened from Ed. I just about died when I saw the box, I really wasn't expecting jewelry because I just got some for my birthday but he is crazy so...It's a ruby on one side and diamonds on the other, he picked it out himself<3 I feel like a baby baby Elizabeth Taylor with my lovely jewelry collection forming.
Then there's Fairly, my Jerry Berrys doll, isnt she the cutest :3
Last week we watched American Horror Story! Oh my goodness, i kept hearing things bout this but i wasn't sure what it was and we dont see commercials sooo...we checked it out and it was so awesome! Except for seeing Dylan Mcdermott naked, ick his pecs are like on his neck D: I love that they used an age appropriate woman to play the mother. I dont think people who make tv or I even realize how important it is to let people know that you age and it's not good to look plumped and tightened, you can age gracefully. Ha sorry that was a little tangent buuut you should check it out if you like scary stuff. It was just scary enough :) and next season is gonna be a whole new story!
Last week we recieved Super Meat Boy sweatshirts from level up studios! So rad and comfy. Then Ed was written up on the local newspaper, sort of a follow up with news about Indie Game: The Move going to Sundance. We thought it was kind of strange how getting in a local paper is a big deal when tons more stuff that's a way bigger deal has happened, for instance SMB went PLATINUM last week D: Anyway I came up with the theory that everyone can relate to wanting people that they didnt like,went to school or worked with to suck it. I know I hoped a few choice people ran across the cover of the paper.

We saw My Week With Marilyn and grabbed a slice of pizza after. I thought the movie was pretty good, i had just listened to the book on audible and it was nice to have a women playing the part instead of a British man doing trying to do a breathy MM.
We went to Watsonville, which is sort of the "Mexican town" around here. Inside of a littler mercantile we found a bunch of bizarre Santeria stuff, we also got the Santa head pinata there .

My mom came over and made sweet potato cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting, they were better than Cinnabon.
Awesome Christmas present from my mom, look how she even captured little cricket. I also have a matching necklace :D

I spent some time organizing my supplies since a certain cat (Tammy) knocked all of it over. Hand sewed a little worm thingy.
The first 3 pics are of a christmas present from my sister and Acacia, she drew me and Ed and herself marrying a ninja turtle "Michael Angelope" hehe. // We took the kids out for lunch and they came over for some muffins a few days later<3

I found these two snuggled together and it made my day! // Our new media computer, it's about 1/15th the size of the old stack, it looks so much better than that giant thing sitting on there.

A few days ago I fell down the first 6 or so stairs of the staircase, i just slipped in my socks :/ I cant believe I didn't hurt myself any worse than a bruise and sore muscles. // My attempt at making cookies last night... I forgot how much they spread out :x
So there's my lil update. I'll be back soon with an end of the year round up type post.
p.s. Ed also got me a pink cat stroller, now that's love!

Merry Xmas! I decided to take a break from blogging and the internet in general the past few weeks. I'll be back soon with the rest of my xmas haul and some news! whoo!

Tomorrow we are having our very first xmas eve in our new home and instead of first going to my sisters then going to Ed's mom's house everyone's coming over here since we have more than enough room AND my mom doesnt have to work so that's my xmas miracle.

We also have a fun(what will hopefully be a new xmas tradition)surprise planned for everyone.

I have been using this thing NON STOP! I love it SO MUCH! At first I was a little bit scared that it was gonna be complicated but it's the simplest thing in the world. I love mixing the different flavors! Two large (9.5oz) cups fit in my 20 oz mug with just enough room for cream. Ed is super pleased because I wont be constantly asking to go by starbucks :D I wouldn't recommend it if you like really bitter/strong coffee though, one of the reasons I never wanted to make coffee at home was I could never get it just right so i wouldn't burn my stomach. The black tea is super good, but the hot chocolate was pretty watery. There are so many options on Amazon, I want to get the Celestial Seasonings tea sampler! there's hot cider too and a ton of different flavored coffees.

All in all a great gift! and it's extra sweet because Ed had to go by my salon to find out what the hell it actually was and what he needed to go with it :3

We gave in at 3am on the 4th! It's funny my mom said she always thought it was me that couldn't wait but it's totally Ed! When he's done shopping he just can't wait. I only had 2/3 of his gifts too. A bunch came in the mail today. Anyway instead of bombarding you with my loot I'll just share something a day for the next few days. Ed definitely went c-r-a-z-y this year, but I have to say I did pretty well myself too :D Oh oh I did remember that we actually waited for xmas eve twice! and i was wondering why on earth is it that we cant wait, what's different? I realized it's that we didnt live together those first two years. I think I've given up on us ever being able to wait. Ed also says I always I say I want to wait to open gifts so i wont be sad on xmas but I never actually am sad so it was good to realize that. I'll be back tomorrow to show you a present!

I could got on about this but I'm not really in the writing mood. Suffice it to say I am a very anxious person, I wasn't always but around my early 20s when my job with Easter Seals was extremely stressful, I started being afraid of the phone. Calling in sick made me feel like I was going to die. The ring of the house phone was paralyzing, no caller id...nightmarish.

I'm a little bit better now but I let Ed answer the phone whenever I can. I don't enjoy talking on the phone and I feel very anxious about how and when the conversation will end. Of course I'm not like this with everybody, but yeah. I think this is a pretty common thing with most people especially since we don't really have to talk on the phone that much to communicate anymore. Oh texting, such a wondrous thing!

Sleep!

Yesterday I woke up at 9am after going to bed at 7am. I got on the treadmill and stayed busy. With Ed's help I stayed up till 10pm. I was sooo exhausted. I opted for not taking an ambien since so far it put me to sleep once for a not restful 5 hours and once for 2 hours :/ .... I slept till 10am!! A glorious 12 hours. The world looks so different through rested eyes and the best part is i'm not queasy! I've been nauseated all week and it pretty much makes everything suck. My goal today is to get some exercise and not nap! I hope after a few days of being strict with my sleep schedule I will start to feel better throughout the day and not feel like I need a nap at all. Cross your fingers for me because I am behind on just about everything :/

Well since it's 10 am and I havent fallen asleep yet I figure hey I remembered it's Friday! I can do that thing! My lack of presence on my blog is mainly due to experiencing crazy insomnia which led to feeling really sick etc. and a nice lil visit to the ER. I was feeling so much better today not able to really eat anything at all but I had slept, I fell asleep and at maybe 7am GLORIOUS! woke up a few times completely out of it and sweaty, a sign of sleeping well for me is being too tired to throw extra covers off so you just lay frozen in good sleep...and sweat.

I thought Yay! my brain's all better and I can sleep again, but no. I fell asleep for 15 minutes maybe and woke up like this O_O burping the skimpiest pb&j i ate for dinner hours earlier. My stomach has been put through the ringer but I didn't think a tiny bit of peanut butter on toast would hurt it. Ugh.The doctor gave me a few ambien to try but I'm afraid. Well right now I'm not afraid but usually by the time we go to sleep I'm all scared and thinking morbid thought and too anxious to try it. Have you taken it? I'd love to hear about any of your experiences before I give in.

I have to mention that during the past few days Ed took amazing care of me like as good as my mom does! You know how sometimes with a partner you can get a little drained when they're sick? well it never happened he was so patient and wonderful, definitely what I was thankful for this year<3 I'm going to remember to be extra patient when a man cold comes around :)

The least I could do on Thanksgiving Eve was give him the 2010 Lego Advent calender I was saving, as soon and it hit me that he would open them all at once anyway :D

1. Waking up at the break of dawn to go shopping is my idea of HELL! Literally. The first part was bad enough and then you add shopping to it, i mean I love shopping but usually from the comfort of my laptop without insane people.

2. If I were to go shopping today I would be on the hunt for The only thing I would hunt for would be amazing jewelry or import toys, those are 2 things I'd love a bargain on but everything else I'll happily pay amazon prime prices and not have an anxiety attack.

3. The best thing I ate yesterday was a can of campbells chicken noodle soup. It was salty and it didnt make me feel very sick! I was really happy with that pb&j too till it came back to visit me.

4. Something I've been learning lately is there are some people you can't help. Maybe their idea of happiness,comfort, and stability is not the same as yours. People rarely change, most of them are good so it evens out.

5. I cannot start my day without I'm not picky, just a little sleep would be nice :/

6. My nighttime attire consists of my birthday suit unless it's crazy cold then ill hop out of bed and put on a pair of ed's socks and one of his comfy shirts. Yes, you're right, it's totally hot and *screams* business time!

7. I am looking forward to getting our schedule back on track, getting out in daylight, making xmas presents, seeing my bubs,mom, and sis<3 *I almost forgot* I'm super looking forward to meeting Tommy's dad and seeing his mom again and ....getting my Jamie!!

Here's my 2nd little bjd , she's called...a "dollfactory pet ari popo"...I don't know much about these things yet, but I do know that I got a super good deal on her. I was wondering if she was going to feel any different than the cheap body that I bought (from my last post), the answer is yes! she's much much higher quality. Good to know if I ever decide to spend more on a doll.

I really just had to have her because she reminded me so much of Tammy :)

Sorry if my dolls creep you out! I definitely wouldn't sleep in the same room as my Blythes but I still love them<3

Giving me a toothache

We got a water fountains for the cats today, so far Cricket likes it A LOT!

Not much else going on here except Ooing and aahing at the cats. I closed the Super Meat Boy shop this week to catch up on stuff. Boy does it feel good to not worry about shipping anything this week, phew! and for the moment I'm done making Isaac plush since we ran out of the 50 limited edition wooden tags. I can't believe I already sold 50 of those lil guys! it was such a blur.

Welcome Home Cricket!

Yep, that's her name :) She sat on my shoulder the whole way home and didn't make a peep(very different than Tammy's ride home). She's just completely wonderful and fitting in so well. Guppy is being his usual self, Moxie is being nice and only tried to bite her butt once and Tam is in full force play mode. Her and Tam have already started snuggling together thought it's really hard for her not bite the baby, last night she was licking her and as my eye's were tearing up she gave a big bite! Oh well, Cricket has no marks yet :)

Unlike Tammy she doesn't like to be bundled up at all, she prefers to lay on a blanket, right by your butt on the couch or in her dad's lap.

Guppy was interested but not that interested, I think he hissed right after this. I always take it as a good sign when we feels curious enough to stay in the living room and see whats up.

"What the hell is going on here??!" The really did take it well though :)

She eats like a champ! It's so funny when they first come home and you can tell they're used to eating fast before their siblings can get it.

and here's a little video I took for you guys today so you can see how tiny and cute she is. Trust me I have tons more and that's probably all I'll be posting about for a while. I've purposely not been turning on my computer because I get stuck on it so easily and I majorly fell behind last week!

I can't tell you how happy I am with her. She is such a love and I feel completely full, four is definitely a good number. I'll be back tomorrow with more photos!

Thank you so much for your kind words about little Tortellini. I feel a lot better today though I have my moments. Last night we looked at the website of the same breeder where we got Tammy, to see if she had any available kittens. Well there was just one girl, a seal point (the original coloring I was looking for) mixed with a tortie(what I fell in love with). I emailed the breeder and she got back to me right away letting me know she was ready to go home.

Ed and I talked about it and agreed she was precious and still really did want a kitten and playmate for Tammy. I posted on the sphynx forum I'm a member of asking if I was a horrible person for "replacing" her so quickly. All the kind responses made me feel so at ease with our decision. I had a lot of love ready to give to a kitten, and it doesn't mean I loved little T any less. It does feel strange to be excited to meet her while still feeling very sad. I still have some questions about little T but it's neither her nor there at this point, life is short and I dont want to dwell on a situation I have no control over. If there would be an upside to this the way the breeder is acting right now I feel like I dodged a bullet.

On a much happier note she got a clean bill of health from the vet today, and we pick her up from the airport on Monday. I can't believe it. It just seems meant to be, I really couldn't have gone through the anxiety of waiting for months and thinking at any moment something could go wrong. I have complete faith in Tammy's breeder and she's been nothing but professional. Ooo also her and Tammy will be real sisters! they have the same dad. I'm so excited to see them together<3

The worst

Around 8pm tonight I got an email from our baby's breeder. I was looking on my phone and could only see the first few line before Ed's mom called and all I could say before I answered it was something's wrong with the baby. I hung up so we could finish reading it and the email was telling me that our little tortellini had passed away today. We're not sure what went wrong, just that I guess she wasn't thriving like she should be. It never entered my mind that we might not meet her and even though we hadn't the feelings aren't any less painful. I had already pictured her in our lives, growing up, holding her,bathing her, and playing with hey. Imagining four little butts in the kitchen eating treats. She made me fall in love with the tortoise shell pattern. I thought she was so darn cute I would stick my phone in anyone's face to show them a photo of her, only to hear "is that a dog?" She was definitely unique.
I dont know how, but I miss her and knowing that ill never hold her is really hard. I know that it's better that I didn't meet her only to lose her or potentially have her get the other cats sick, I know all that stuff.
Right when we found out I felt like I never wanted another animal in case something like this happened again, but then I looked at Tammy snuggled in her blanket and remembered that the other reason, besides having one more baby, was we were getting another sphynx to have a sibling for Tammy to snuggle,play with, and be close in age to. I am just so unbelievably sad that it wont be our little midget. I have her pictures all over my phone and computer and my face hurts so bad from crying I just want to go to sleep. It will get easier.

Doll Crazy

I've been going a little doll crazy over here...it all started with Angie's post about her awesome giveaway win. I've always liked ball jointed dolls and admired them on flickr, but a quick search on ebay will yield results for dolls as small as 4 inches going for $500 and up! Anyway after shouting to Ed,"I want one of these dolls!!" I hopped over to ebay and found a relatively cheap body with makeup and eyelashes included. Separately I bought eyes, a wig, and wig cap. So far the body has come and sadly I think her eyes will be the last to arrive D: so she's a little scary looking at the moment. I'm looking forward to putting her together and taking photos! Luckily blythe clothes fit this body but not the shoes, her feet are big!

I've ordered another little treat that should be arriving soon too :x but I'll show you that when I get it. As I patiently wait for everything to arrive my attention turned to my blythes. The very first Blythe I ever bought was a Cinnamon Girl in maybe 2002 or 2003, i found out about them through some livejournal community and I fell in love. I thought I would be able to customize her and sew her little clothes. I honestly didn't like the way she looked at all but she was the cheapest one at around $160. This was before I had sewed any plush or knew how to use a sewing machine so I have no clue why I thought I'd master making intricate little clothes. I felt that the customizing tutorials were way over my head and way too scary to try on something that cost so much. Out of boredom and frustration i sort of ...ruined her, kind of making her look like a zombie with acrylic paints. When I posted photos of her like this several livejournalers commented in outrage! They couldn't believe what I had done. I ended up throwing her away at the dump and I cringe when I think about it now... Only for some reason recently did I feel like I might be able to sand a face and give rerooting hair a shot.

Tonight I bit the bullet and took apart my cheaper prima violet with the help of Ed. I sanded her face, added some eye shadow and blush with a little mac shadow and painted a little light lip on with acrylic paint. The best part about being doll crazy is Ed never complains when I buy toys, only shoes and clothes :3

I love her new face SO much better already. I hate hate the shiny look!

Her scalp is already detached and ready to give rerooting a shot when my supplies come in. I already foresee there being a lot of cursing. If it wasn't for Ed i wouldn't have gotten her head back together as it :) I wish I was better with tutorials and mechanical things but I just dont process it well or I get too anxious about it. Anyway I'll let you know how it goes. If you're curious this is the best website I've found tutorials, patterns for clothes too.

Yay! We had a very nice Halloween. We only had 2 trick or treaters!! I wore my Redvelvet "Blue Velvet" dress for the first time and my birthday Jeffrey Campbells :D Ed drew my face on and I filled it in with eye shadow and pigments. I also used eye shadow for his awesome costume, Raphael!! Around 8pm we headed downtown with Tommy and Shannon and did a few laps. I don't remember seeing anything spectacular but it was fun.

Our Pumpkins

We haven't carved pumpkins in yeeears, i can't even remember when the last time we bought them was, but now that we're in our own home it's so fun to decorate and I want to make sure we keep traditions going. I had seen this image sometime this month, and when we found the eyeballs that I used for the eyeball wreath and then saw another tutorial where kids used acrylic paint instead of carving I thought hey! we can have cute pumpkins without scooping out yucky junk :D

Paint plastic eyes or ping pong balls with acrylic paint. Water bottle caps are great for drying stands.

The holes leaked a little but I just blotted them with a paper towel and they were fine.

Carve out a place for the teeth, it helps to make a slit on the ends of the "gum part", ours have stayed wedged in well.

Paint your details on while you wait for the eyes to dry. I stuck thumb tacks in the eye holes and hot glued the eyes to those and viola!

You can also learn something about Ed from this doodle. If I ask him to draw me something and he's in what I call a "funny mood" he will tease me by drawing weird things...like him as this rodent thing holding my shoe. I've learned to just go with it otherwise his mood will flip and he'll just close whatever he was working on and then I have nothing... *sigh* temperamental artists.

So if you can take your eye's off lil freak Ed you will see that I indeed have toe thumbs. I'm not sure what other people call them but if i place them where my big toe is they look like they belong on my feet so...No one has ever really made fun of them, some giant chola girl called me thumbelina in 8th grade and that was alright with me, ya know as long as it ended there and she didn't stab me or anything. Ed's mom was freaked out by them when we first started dating, which puts my hands in the same category as rat's tails in her mind!

But then in 2007 along come a lil lady you may have heard of named Megan Fox...she has toe thumbs!

Who knows by now how many people have undergone plastic surgery to get these smoking hot thumbs that I was just lucky enough to be blessed with at birth!

We had a cat door installed on the litter room door(would be pantry). Has completely erased any foul odors! Tammy is a fan of not covering up her poop :/

My mom spent the night on Sunday. She made green curry chicken, we watched Adventure Time and caught up on Raising Hope :)

Got a hankering tonight to shave the back and sides of my head. I wanted to go much higher since I want to wear my hair piled on the top of my head but this was good compromise :3 I assured Ed that he could most definitely part and shave my head if he could put in feathers with crimp beads<3<3

I guess it happened a little over a week ago. We were talking to Ed's mom about having a dog and then Ed said something like, he wasn't sure if he wanted a dog anymore...and I said neither was I. Maybe if we could have gotten one right away it would be different but waiting 2 years and going through another long game development I needed another baby now and well that's just the honest truth.

It's weird, i had already been having a few doubts about whether we would be good dog owners. Has it ever happened to you, where you get the chance to have something you thought you really really wanted and then you run the gamut of emotions and come out the other end not sure you want that thing? It happened to me maybe 4 years ago when we decided we were going to try and have a baby. I was elated and within 3 days knew I was completely not ready and maybe didn't even want to have kids...ever. It's weird how you can just not think about that stuff if you dont give your brain permission.

I had been noticing that neither Guppy or Moxie are as energetic as often as Tammy is and they dont like to snuggle with each other either, fourth cat seemed right. When we first got Tammy I promised no more cats! but as soon as we made an offer on the house I told Ed, "this is a 4 cat house!". He didnt disagree but said we'd have to wait until next year. Sooo I had already started talking to a new breeder on facebook that was so nice and shared photos of her kitties all the time, a real labor of love. I just knew she was who I wanted to go through if we got another cat.

Once we decided we would for sure not get a dog and fourth cat was on I emailed her to see what kitties she had available. She happened to have this little girl, who's original owner lost her job and wasn't able to buy her anymore :( I was so sad for that lady but happy at the chance to have this little cutie by possibly the same exact date we got Tammy last year! She is a tortoise shell Bambino , born on August 31st. I was so excited when I saw she was a tortie because I know 1, 2, 3 awesome ladies that are mamas to em.

While Tammy is Marsha Brady the new baby will definitely be Jan *sigh* people think she's a dog when they see this pic :x So while she wont have Tammy's beauty she will make up for it with uniqueness. I was not sold on the idea of a Bambino until we watched this video and saw that they do not in fact have back problems like dachshunds and can jump as high as a regular cat. I'm also happy that some of the clothes Tammy grew out of before she ever even got to wear them will get a chance to be worn. I've been calling her Tortellini and Ed calls her Cubby. I think that sounds way too similar to Guppy and want to stay away from a name ending in y, but of course we wont know till we meet her<3 Only 50+ days to go D:

Eyebrows!

Today I had my eyebrows waxed and shaped for the first time. I started letting them grow out a few months ago and wanted to reward myself for resisting the urge to pluck while they were so crazy.

I couldn't resist a few goodies as well. I highly recommend that mascara, it's my second tube. I really like the Clinique spot treatment and it really helps keep me from touching my face. The face wash is lovely and the exfoliator is nice too, less harsh than apricot scrub but still feels like it's doing something.

This has got to be the cutest lil product! look at those tiny tweezers! It's a bit of wax and shadow to fill my brows in. I'm set!

Just found these guys last week and I love em! It's been pretty quiet over here, busy fulfilling Isaac orders. The super sets sold out in record time. I put 2 Cain super sets up as well.

I really thought by the time I was 27 I wouldn't be such a scaredy cat :/ I think the only thing that's changed is I don't let my mind run wild as and I forget about scary movies and stuff I've seen more easily. I also look at a lot less gross/scary stuff on the internet, remember rotten.com ick!

I'm afraid of stuff that doesn't exist and well as real stuff...I'm not used to the size of the house and I find it totally plausible that someone could have broke in and snuck under the bed or in the closet while we were gone. Luckily we got a new bedroom set last week and there's no under the bed, it's a platform box, so that will save me some time, still gotta check the closet though.

Being a scaredy cat started when my uncle made the wise choice to bring me to see Chucky when I was 3...From then on I thought dolls were alive. I didnt like to be alone in the same room as my "kid sister", I thought she was Chucky's wife. When I was 4 I left my barbie and ken on the sidewalk in their car because I thought ken said something(they were stolen). It's weird too because I had SO MANY dolls and toys, but I was always wary of them at night, they definitely weren't sleeping with me. Even some stuffed animals looked sinister...

The most recent scary thing we watched was Insidious, jesus! That took me about 3 days to recover from. Unfortunately I love scary movies, I'm lucky that Ed will still go to the bathroom with me and thinks it's perfectly normal I trail after him like a shadow the night after we watching a horror movie.

Boy these 28 things are just going to illustrate what a weirdo I am! but really so far they've shown me that I'm not alone. I loved seeing your responses to the driving one, I feel much better about the whole thing :)

Haha get it?! Eep I haven't been on the computer much and I really need to catch up on my favorite blogs D: Ed's mom and sister came by last night, they had just picked up Dingo's costume, how could be not try it on Tammy. I could barely stop laughing long enough to take a few pics. I really wanted to make them costumes this year, but I'm a little too busy with the Isacc plush to know if I'd actually get to it....so I went on the target website and ordered them each one :D Cant wait to show you!

We're getting Tammy used to going out again. She was super good in the car, very patient at kinkos and loved all the attention she got at the mall. She attracted a pretty large crowd! TWELVE YEARS!

12 years ago today at 4am, we officially started dating! It's crazy...that's over a decade D: Maybe it will seem less so when we're older but to be 27 and celebrate a 12 year anniversary is...nuts! In the past 4,380 days we have only not spoke for one day, that's a pretty good record. I remember in the first few years of us dating people would say we spent too much time together, that we needed our own interests and friends. Well, we were each other's best friends and as I got older I found my own interests but we still spend 24/7 together. It can result in my getting bitchy once in a while but there's still no one I'd rather watch Toddlers & Tiaras with. Life is short and I want to spend every second I can with him<3

I thought you might enjoy seeing the first page from a sort of "relationship journal" I made Ed. I started it a few days after our 6 month anniversary. I still love to read it. It's hard to explain unless you know what I'm talking about, but I felt like it was just as right to be together then as it is now, there was really no question of our future when I look back. It ended up taking me a year and half to fill it up, he knew it existed but never looked inside until I gave it to him. Please enjoy my 15 year old handwriting!

We found our very first garden snake. I wanted to keep him! He was so lovey(or very cold:) we now have a good bit of grass and a lovely flagstone area :) This spot before was completely full of weeds, huge dandelion ones and kind of an uneven slope. Now we have to decorate down there! Soon we will have steps leading down from the grass to that area and a veggie patch on the big square platform that held the last homeowners swingin' hot tub :x

With the rainy weather and it being just us two in the house again it feels all cozy and magical and the idea of having Christmas here is making us feel all wiggly! It's a damn good house<3 The yard coming together makes me feel extra good and thanks to this wonderous thing our floors are the cleanest they've been since we moved in. That steam mop is freakin great! I did the whole 1st level, stairs, landing and still had water in the tank! It looks like it's about $20 cheaper now too :D

I gotta get dinner started and have lots of work to do on Isaac plushes but I will be back tomorrow with a mushy love post<3

I can't get over the perforation on these shoes *swoon*. I had an upsetting indecent last week where I tried to get my first pair of swedish hasbeens, these gems in particular and even the size 11 didnt fit, the length and width was good but the leather was way to tight and so thick it wouldn't have stretched out :/ so I soothed myself with a "trip" to zappos and now I have a new brand that I can wear in a 10, seychelles! :D

We drove up to Tommy's new place in San Fransico and we saw this awesome little house on the way, I think it's had a new paint job since I've seen in last. Right ahead of us the sky looked crazy with all the fog :)

The older I get the stranger it seems. I was never one of those kids that was like,"Oh boy I can't wait to get a car and get out of the house", so I think that might have been part of it and then when I met Ed at 15 he drove and I never really had a reason to learn. Ed never pushed me because he likes to keep me extra safe and never minded driving me to work. I did take a permit test 3 years ago when my anxiety was at an all time low and I failed it. The practice test I had studied was apparently useless and I didn't know anything about driving on ice and other random things.

I'm with Ed 95% of the time and our family is pretty used to it. I sometimes wonder is it gonna be weird when I'm like 35 and my mom is still picking me up to go to lunch :3 Maybe I'll learn but as of now I have zero desire to do so.

The Binding of Isaac // It's Time!

Yay! In a few hours The Binding of Isaac will be live and for sale on Steam! This is Ed's first game since Super Meat Boy, it was a small project that turned into 3 months of development. I've said it before but I have to say it again, I feel so lucky to get to see these games come to life from scribbles on a page. I remember Ed asking my opinion on 3 different looks for Isaac, thinking maybe he didn't want to continue working on it, to my playing it for hours a day and beating it! It's like having your significant other make a toy just for you and you cant get enough of it. I know some people wont get it but SO many people are gonna love it!

I've been working on limited edition plush that will be listed in Ed's shop soon. I'm planning on including random familiars and items with them, like "brother bobby" and "sister maggie" that you see above :) I love this game!

This place is SO awesome! The first and only time I had been there before was on our 1st wedding anniversary. I can't believe my sister had never been because this sort of thing is right up her alley if you can't tell by how beautiful her gnome looks. Also my mom can do no wrong when it comes to anything creative but I didnt think she's get so into it! So yeah, its one of those places where you pick out a piece of pottery paint it and then they fire it for you, you probably have one in your town.

We had more fun than the kids for sure. Luckily Petroglyph had a "cave" with a tv in it where the kids could play. Acacia painted half the top of her cupcake box and then asked me to finish it. I wonder what age they'll be when they have more patience for this kind of thing.

Bonus! when we were almost ready to leave, we all just had a few finishing touches to add and Eli starts burping...and coughing...thank jeebus my sister got him to the bathroom in time...and was still wearing his apron. We dont know if he caught what's been going around or if he ate too much paint :) The last time we all went out for family time Eli busted his lip in the movie theatre. We have more fun!!

Eep! I can't wait till Thursday when we get to pick up out stuff.

I'm not one to judge and if i were I honestly couldn't tell who does what, but I'm glad they're staying out of trouble!

Last but not least, Reformed Movie Monsters. I actually made Frank and Drac last August per Ed's request and the mummy and werewolf followed suit. I loved them so much and they sold as a set in record time, within like 10 minutes of being listed! The wolfman was definitely my fave :D

...or possibly 1990...Good god! I don't know what's worse my outfit or my sister's hair?! I absolutely loved those shorts, i believe they came with a Chester Cheeto shirt. I had a pair of leopard print spandex pants from the same time that I found at my grandma's a few years ago, they were so tiny! and ridiculously mended. I also loved "hammer pants" my favorite pair had skulls with pink mohawks. My mom sent me to an extended family members house, where i'd have to go to church the next day, with these pants as my change of clothes! The woman was appalled and we had to buy a dress :/ This is also the woman who when I was 8 asked me who my best friend was and when I replied she told me, "No! Jesus Christ is your best friend". Even then i thought,"Eeeeesh, ok...". My mom musta been hard up for a babysitter.

I say cover because we sleep with just a comforter so, no i didn't forget the s :) I pretty much do all my reading in bed after Ed goes to sleep. 1. Thank goodness for kindles it was really hard to hold a book and turn pages under the cover. 2. Thank goodness for the lighted kindle cover! now I dont have to have my ds propped up facing my kindle, that was extra fun trying to turn the pages of a thick book.

I know I should not stay up so late, i try and only read for 30 min to an hour but the last book I was really into I read for 3 hours without realizing! This is most definitely why I get so tired during the day and end up taking a nap. I dont find much time during the day to read and i really look forward to my time under the cover, knowing Ed is peacefully asleep and keeping me warm and not thinking about a damn thing besides what's going on in the current story. As you can see from the list below i went through a slew of polygamy survivor books, those led to creepy crime books. I was reading some on the treadmill which was a nice way to get that in but I've found listening to embarrassing pop music on Pandora is more benifical to getting my fitness on. Gosh I love technology<3 I recently signed up for audible, for me it's a great alternative to netflix when I'm working. This way 30 minutes doesn't pass between a stitch because my eyes are glued on my laptop :) Also audio books are a great way to "read" books that I otherwise probably wouldn't get through, like Great Expectations.

Being an aunt<3

Eli's 3rd birthday party was last Saturday and Ed's mom came and took lots of great photos. I actually forgot to put the memory card in my camera :x it was so nice to just relax and not be the designated picture taker. We had lots of fun, my sis always throws awesome birthday parties.

Sea Lion Kisses!

The best part of the fair was by far Cali the sea lion. I was happy just to watch her but then they said you could get kisses from her and play with her for $. I thought, "heck yes I wanna do that!"

Although I consider myself a cat lady I am an all around animal person. The only thing stopping me from owning one of everything is Ed and his blasted rules!I would love a bearded dragon,hedgehog,ferret, snake, you name it I would love to snuggle one.

Anyway it came up awhile ago that I feel like something is missing. We definitely aren't ready for kids, at this point we're 99.9% sure we wont have them, especially biologically, but that's not something I want up for discussion so please sssh! Ok so, I also decided that I don't want a 4th cat, I love the 3 we have and another one would not fill this "void". One night over sushi a couple weeks ago we decided that after the next game is released(probably 2 years) we will get a dog. I could not believe that we were having this conversation! One of my life's dream realized, I was beyond elated and floated down the street after dinner to get coffee. We're pretty sure we want a french bulldog, but we'd also be happy with a little mutt. I never never ever thought we would have a dog EVER! I groomed them for 2 years and it was pretty much my favorite job ever. Once Ed even said that he'd rather have a baby than a dog, well when it gets down to it I guess that's not true. Eep! Now I catch myself daydreaming about picking up a puppy, training classes, etc.

Hello there,

I was in a crappy mood pretty much all day yesterday but last night and today I have had such nice comments/messages from people, some I know, some I don't. To top it off a stranger mailed my ID to our po box, I didn't even realize it was missing. I find it pretty amazing that somebody went through the trouble to do that when sometimes it seems that people can't be bothered to do one simple act of kindness. I think there are probably a few people that think I'm blunt... a bitch but that's just because I don't waste kindness on people who don't deserve it and I'm a pretty good judge of character ;) I really do try my very best to be a sweet and genuine person so thank you to everyone who has lifted my spirits.

Well...I dont know if this was the best recipe, I sorta added more than I should have but it really wasn't too bad after a few more sips. The benefits of making juice are so good though we'll keep trying and perfect a few combinations. I'll share anything tasty we come across and please share any tips or tricks you have with me :)

.......i smell really goood..... i am so bored, i wish i was working. i could clean the house but that doesn't sound very fun. i have been majorly slacking with the updating of my journal. i wanted to but i have been feeling so drained creatively and another thing that is just stressing my mind is that our 3 yr. anniversary is coming up October 5th and i have no idea what i am going to do. some people at Ed's work are being huge bitches, sometimes i wish he would quit... i was talking to Jackie on the phone and i looked out the kitchen window and saw this thing way up high in a tree, good thing for zoom. i think its a heron or something who knows, it was scary.

I'm gonna go hug my guppers :)

What a dork! I had just got Guppy so I believe I was bottle feeding him every couple of hours, we had just moved into out first apartment that we ended up staying in for only 2 months. Besides baby Guppy we had an awful parrot named Phoebe and a wonderful ferret named Daisy<3 I was bored and needing a job bad, pretty soon after this ended up working at Petsmart for awhile, boy I dont miss those days...or do I? I miss being 17 and not having a care in the world though at the time life seemed pretty hard it was actually pretty sweet :)

Ok so! I remember looking out the window and seeing this crazy thing in the tree. I thought,"holy shit, i'm going to be one of those people that calls Weekly World News because I discovered this alien in a tree." It turns out it was a heron, but it was super strange to see this pretty large bird so high in a tree...yeah.

I'm battling a sinus infection at the moment, the power of neon orange is on my side!

Whoa long time no Movie Monday! We've been watching lots but it seems like it's already Tuesday by the time I remember :/ It'll be just is two in the house again soon and things will settle down...or something.

Last night Ed put on Troll Hunter. All I knew was, he said it's like The Blair Witch Project to which I literally cried," NOOO!". I didn't want anything to do with it,I guess what he meant was it's a fake documentary but he couldn't have chose worse words to describe it. Also anything "Troll" makes me think of Troll 2...Needless to say I thought I was in for something awful!

I don't want to ruin anything for you( I hadn't seen any images and that made it that much better), so just watch it! I loved it and it totally brought back magical feelings of reading The BFG when I was little...t's done really really well. Here's the trailer if you want to take a peek.

Ed thought he read something about it being remade for the US but I think it actually just got a distribution deal. It's not like we haven't remade plenty of movie that we shouldn't have, but this really wouldn't have made sense since trolls aren't part of our folklore, but it got me thinking that a similar film with saquatch as the monster would be so awesome, especially if they were HUGE and scary :D

Yay! Our Arcade finally came today and luckily Tommy was here because the delivery guy was NOT helpful. The arcade has mame,nes,snes,all sega and all atari systems on it...it's awesome! I can't believe we own this and it's on our living room :O

Yesterday:

We got insurance recently, thank god because I had to go to the Dr. yesterday. I was having horrible pains on my left side...that was good since it definitely wasn't my appendix. I was in so much pain they gave me a shot of morphine in my butt cheek, holy shit! that hurts. I thought that the pain must be the morphine going into my butt muscle but Ed said it was actually the needle, it was super long. Then I had to drink a half gallon of that contrast stuff, Ed gave a me a cup every 20 minutes. I was pretty comfy after the morphine and just read my kindle.

After I finished the contrast I had a ct scan and they gave me iodine in an iv. It was so weird! You taste metal in your mouth and you get a really warm sensation, reeeally warm on your bits! it felt like i was peeing...I'm glad I was warned. Well I'm ok anyway nothing seriously wrong just stomach pains...really painful ones that don't subside. I'm feeling better today though and hopefully I'll be back to normal tomorrow :/

Went to Cost Plus today with my mom while we waited for the Thai place to open. Then stopped by my sister's to see the kids, scroll down to see the funniest photo of Acacia ever!

What a perfectly lovely Friday! I can not tell you how much I appreciate my normal brain/mood after such an awful bout of pms! I'm downright chipper :D We had today all to ourselves. After lunch and coffee we visited with the kids<3 We brought Acacia her school coat and the backpack we ordered for Eli after he saw Acacia's he asked for a ,"biderman packpack". How cool is it?! the straps are a little Spiderman vest. He was beyond excited to get it and proudly exclaimed,"I'm a big boy now!".

After many eskimo kisses and promises of seeing them tomorrow we headed home. Ed's sister and our littlest bub came over for a bit and we showed the baby how to use the various nerf guns we have around the house :)

Awhile later we headed downtown and ordered sushi to take home. While we waited we walked down the mall and got coffee and cookies for after dinner.

After my sister got off work she came over for our True Blood date! Such a cliffhanger! I'm finally reading the books, I think I'm on book 5 or 6 and wow they are so much different than the show.

Tomorrow my mom is spending the night and my sis,joe,and the kids are coming over for dinner. Eep! I can't wait! I haven't got to hang with my mom enough lately, I miss her sooo and she's bringing the birthday present she made for me!

Last night I sewed and it was glorious, well maybe not glorious but it was pretty good. When I haven't sewn for awhile I get such a lil surge of good feelings when I hear my machine humming. And then going downstairs and showing Ed the finished product is awesome too. These are prototypes for The Binding of Isaac, remember when I posted about it? There are more characters and items that I want to make too :D They'll be for sale in Ed's shop once the game comes out(mid September).

In other sewing news we finally hung up my thread holder! It's so awesome and definitely gives me motivation to get my studio in shape! I know everyone loooves craft room photos so I'll work on it :D

Also this totally makes my day/week/month!

Today is a day of awful pms. Waking up feeling like I cant open my eyes, waiting too long for much needed coffee only for the remaining 18oz to be spilled all over the living room. How come I love coffee but the lingering smell of it spilled makes me sick? It's all cleaned up and I feel like a little wrung out sponge. pms should end when you've cried a sufficient amount to please the gods...right? At least I have this <3

The Heritage Rose Garden

This was our favorite! It was a taupe color, a little more tan in person.

I sat down to get a photo of the taupe rose and and saw these lil weeds. They totally brought me back to my childhood. I would play with them in my baby sitters backyard, I thought they looked like bird's feet. I don't recall ever seeing them in Santa Cruz, it was a nice birthday memory.

Here is my amazing birthday present from my sister and brother in law! When i asked for a thread holder I didn't realize how awesome it would be but my sister does tend to go above and beyond when it comes to crafts :) My "bil" did the green/gold paint job and cut out the oval and my sis did the rest I believe. It is truly one of the most special things I own now. The mermaid's hair sparkles like crazy in the sun and luckily the place I'll hang it in my studio get's a good amount<3 and yes I have more thread but I thought I'd be fancy for the photos ;)

Birthday Shopping!

The last picture on the right is my birthday surprise from Ed! They are sooo gorgeous, a picture really doesn't do them justice.

So for my birthday day I asked to go shopping and to the Rose Garden. We woke up at about 3 and headed over the hill. I remember last time my birthday was on a Sunday it was kinda lame since everything closes early but luckily it's light late so we hit the mall first. We had lunch and then went to the shoe section of Nordstrom! I could spot the Jeffrey Campbell table immediately. I've admired them online but never bought any since I dont know if I'm a 10 or 11 in them and Zappos doesnt sell em so no easy returns.

It was so nice to sit there at my leisure with Ed and I had a little shoe angel that brought me whatever sizes I needed. I kid you not the entire time I was trying on shoes I heard at least 10 negative comments about the JCs, San Jose isn't very experimental in their fashion I guess. Anywho I bought what we are calling my "space shoes" and these in the black and nude. They're both super comfortable and easy to walk in. Ed was amazing, he never goes into stores with me so it was quite a treat. He said he dealt with it by "receding inside himself", what trooper ;)

Then I went into *cue angelic music* Sephora! for the first time.

That mascara in the middle is awesome!! and I'm really picky, so are the glitter eyeliners :D

Then I hit Sanrio, I got a few things and stocked Acacia up for school *sigh* her first backpack. Then we went to the Rose Garden. I'll share gratuitous photos of roses in the next few days. I need to re-download photoshop before I can go through them all, since my laptop died. I've been using picnik, it's fun but I like to have multiple photos open at once.

Tomorrow I'll show you what my sister and brother in law made me, it's so SO awesome<3

Exclusive Hands On Play Through //The Binding of Isaac (Beta)

Hey guys, this is Ed's latest project The Binding of Isaac. I've watched him work on it from it's very inception on paper, I feel very lucky to be a part of his projects and give him feedback. This is the first game that he's told me about that I thought maybe he was messing with me or testing me to see if I was listening because it was so bizarre... I started playing it 3 days ago and have spent many many hours since.

For awhile I couldn't get past the first boss, I haven't used key controls since Quake Arena maybe 10 years ago? I would get frantic and lose where my fingers were and die, but it's so fun that I just kept at it. Every time you play there are new items and as you can see below they stack and you can become a crazy powerful monster. My favorite incarnation was a combo of The Crown of Thorns, Max's Head, and The Devil Card...I had huge bloody tears that annihilated guys, it was awesome! and then I got cocky and frantic... and died.

So after many hours spent during the past three days, tonight I got to The Depths, just one level away from Mom! Ugh! I gave 3 cents to a baby legless bum and he gave me some dog food and flew away. I was such a monster but there were just too many guys and I only had 1.5 hearts and no one was dropping them also the damn shopkeeper attacked me...not cool.

Highlights from some of my play throughs:

Killing all 4 basic bosses in the basement and unlocking Monstro's Tooth
Learning how to find the secret room and getting mad pennies.
Finding a nickle in some poo.
Finding a liver in a secret room, which gave me a total of seven container hearts, unlocking Magdalene (Isaac in a blonde wig)
Having 5 full hearts and then getting a Rosary which gave me 3 soul hearts, then finding a pill which gave me balls of steel (another 2 soul hearts).
"Firing my laser" straight into Larry 1 hit killing him.

Yesterday I accidentally found out what my birthday present is. I was going through our online bank statement to find the last time I paid a bill. I thought, "someone's using our card!", then I saw where the purchase was made. I felt so bad D: and I thought maybe I could not say anything and try to act really surprised on my birthday, but I can't lie to Ed for even a second so I told him. Of course he wasn't mad, would've been hard to be since I felt so bad. He gave me my gift and let me just say... "WOW!" I'll show you after my birthday :) and you can be surprised!

We sort of went to the beach. I thought the Monarchs might be there but no. We did do a lot of walking, being a host and having a very bad sense of direction isn't the best combination :) We did see some awesome sludge on a pond and a family of ducks...and that sweet hippie bus. After that we went downtown, shopped and saw lots of crazies, oh Santa Cruz!

Stupid camera! I should have brought my zoom lens.

I think it's possible that I need to have my camera cleaned internally even thought it's maybe only 2 months old. A lot of my photos are coming out blurry for some reason :/

Our niece Acacia is officially a big girl. 5 years ago today I was waiting in a delivery room, kinda scared that I was no longer gonna be the baby of the family. After a few hours and listening to my sister sound like she was in a horror movie Acacia Grace Evans entered the world and I became an aunt for the first time. I never knew this feeling before, that your heart could grow and hold so much love. I've been lucky enough that it's happened 2 more times since!, but Acacia will always be the first baby I fell in love with. I see me and my sister in her and get to spoil and protect this small version of us as much as I can. Thank you baby, for brightening up my world and cheering me up when no adult can<3
