Whoa long time no Movie Monday! We've been watching lots but it seems like it's already Tuesday by the time I remember :/  It'll be just is two in the house again soon and things will settle down...or something.

Last night Ed put on Troll Hunter. All I knew was, he said it's like The Blair Witch Project to which I literally cried," NOOO!". I didn't want anything to do with it,I guess what he meant was it's a fake documentary but he couldn't have chose worse words to describe it. Also anything "Troll" makes me think of Troll 2...Needless to say I thought I was in for something awful!

I don't want to ruin anything for you( I hadn't seen any images and that made it that much better), so just watch it! I loved it and it totally brought back magical feelings of reading The BFG when I was little...t's done really really well. Here's the trailer if you want to take a peek.

Ed thought he read something about it being remade for the US but I think it actually just got a distribution deal. It's not like we haven't remade plenty of movie that we shouldn't have, but this really wouldn't have made sense since trolls aren't part of our folklore, but it got me thinking that a similar film with saquatch as the monster would be so awesome, especially if they were HUGE and scary :D

Movie Monday No.10

I had never watched Judge Judy and when Ed held up the bargain dvd, Justice Is Served, at Frys I figured what the heck. You should definitely add it to your que, she is so hilarious. One of the reasons I dont think I should be a mother is because I think I act just like this at my most annoyed and frustrated. You would have thought that after a couple years of dog grooming and 4 years of working with kids with severe autism(and their parents) I would be more patient...but i'm not...at all. My favorite thing that she yells is," I DON'T BELIEVE YOU!" Uuuugh it's sooo good and people are sooo dumb. Enjoy!

Movie Monday No.9

It's actually TV I'm talking about today, terrible pointless reality TV! I thought about doing a movie but I wanted to share what I've actually been watching... Just to be clear these are not shows that you could just sit and watch, you have to be doing something else. In my case sewing, reading blogs, or editing photos.
I thought this show was going to be a hilarious disaster, I remember seeing something about it on a Talk Soup clip. It was actually pretty normal. If you don't like her you probably will after watching this. She's totally normal, funny, and cusses a lot. The highlight of the show is when she calls a tabloid writer a c_nt! Her kids are barely on it but they're so cute and sweet. Doesn't that one on the left look like Charlie Sheen? She has a super nice helpful dad too...oddly normal.  Through this show I learned about the first movie she was ever in and I'm trying to get my hands on it. Tammy and the T-rex, the dinosaur is her boyfriend?
I'm on the 5th episode of this. It's sort of interesting...I'm always intrigued by people who seems to have so much going on and are very business savvy. If you've ever watched Americas Next Top Model, Kimora will remind you a lot of Tyra Banks, weird ghetto voice just pops out of her aaaaall the time. What I find strange is that if you google pics of when she was young she looks way less exotic and more black, but she's definitely had a lot of work done and made herself look more asian... The highlight of the show so far was when one of her assistants tells one of the daughter's who is grumpy,"are you just gonna site there with a puss on your face?" Is that actually a thing to say?! Sounds a little...gross, to me. To be honest she is almost so annoying and over the top it will be hard to finish this season, but I'm sure I will :)

Good gravy! This one is by far the best...These people are insane. The two older sisters are slut bags, the littlest sister is either crazy or she's doing the teenager hormone thing a little late. You get to see that one up there cry a lot and she's an ugly crier. The first episode features the mom home schooling all 3 girls and the curriculum is from...The Secret...yeah. Again it's crazy but not so entertaining that you'll be glued to it.

If you like listening to stuff while you work and crazy bad TV then my job here is done<3

Movie Monday No.8

We watched this gem last night and edited it down for your viewing pleasure!
I can hardly wait to watch Hardbodies 2! This movie was released the year I was born, I seriously missed out on some cool beach action. I chose this poster over the box cover, which is a girls butt, for the unflattering bathing suit bottoms...I think they're on backwards.

Big wet kisses to Ed for editing it together so quickly & making Movie Mondays awesome<3<3<3

Movie Monday no.7

Whoa this week has flown by! It suddenly dawned on me, Movie Monday!! Well it's still Monday for me and I have just the perfect thing to share with you.

Remember the the documentary that Ed and our brother from another mother,Tommy, are going to be featured in? >back story here<  It's going to be finished any day now! It's very very exciting. The hardest part of our life was documented on film, I know that sounds dramatic to some people that haven't been "through it", but it. was. crazy., and I think Lisanne and Jamie will show you exactly what goes into making a game independently.

This film isn't just for "gamers" any independent artist, I think, will be able to draw inspiration from this film and see parallels to their own work. Not only are the people featured motivated independent individuals so are Lisanne and Jamie (Blink Works), two filmmakers and the support of some very generous people on kickstarter are what has made the telling of these stories possible.

I hope you enjoy this trailer and look forward to seeing the whole thing. I can't watch it without getting goosebumps and feeling sick. I very vividly remember that look in Ed's eyes, a man possessed putting his mind through the wringer daily not to mention every last minute, shitacular bump along the way *ahem*microsoft*ahem*

After you watch feel free to check out Blink Work's  kickstarter page. They need a bit more money to finish it up properly. If you donate $15 you get the digital copy and $35 gets you the physical version that will (I'm pretty sure) have a lot of extra footage included, I can't wait for commentary from Ed and Tommy!

Jamie and Lisanne are two of the nicest people we have ever met, not to mention motivated and talented. After the first time they came to film at our little apartment, a few weeks maybe a month later they sent us this video and wrote a really lovely blog post that made me feel so acknowledged...seen, which is something that I really appreciate having always been the girl behind the boy on this journey the past almost 12 years.

This is the first sneak peak they released ,it features Ed and I'm including it because well it's awesome and he's dreamy.

Puppy Boobs.

What is Puppy Boobs you ask? Well besides being one of Guppy's earliest nicknames...I'm not sure how we got there...it's also our fun new project. It involves found footage and terrible movies, mostly old forgotten ones, which we are calling "super trailers".

We had plans to start doing this last year! These pics are from May 2010, life got so busy we hadn't even opened our video capture thing till last week and those VHS unfortunately went back to goodwill during the first move. I'm kicking myself wondering what treasure may have been hiding in them.

weird vhs

Nintendoooo 6444444!

Now for your viewing pleasure I have our first two videos, the first falls under the category of terrible old movie(nsfw-ish) and the latter is found footage.

2:12 is my favorite moment, and of course the end. If you felt uncomfortable at any point I think that means we're doing it right.I hope you enjoy these,we're having lots of fun making them.

P.s. Thank you so much for your lovely comments on my outfit post and the gnomes<3<3<3 We're going mini golfing tonight and I'm actually excited to get dressed :D

Movie Monday no.6

Last night we started watching this awesome show that was recommended for us on Netflix, Thumbs Up!
It's this artist David Choe, who I think is maybe a little bit crazy, and his friend(uncle's son's nephew?) Harry, hitch hiking through random places. It's 3 seasons long and we're on the 2nd one. It really makes me wanna go around the US. People are so strange or surprisingly nice or both.

I actually hitchhiked  three times, twice when I was 14, the first time a mom in a minivan picked me and my friend up and told us what a bad idea it was. Then I was by myself trying to get home after ditching a school that I went to that was sort of in the woods. A couple...maybe brother and sister? picked me up in this weird old car , they just fought the whole time and when I think back to it it seems so surreal like they were characters out of the  first texas chainsaw massacre D: The last time was around 3 years ago, i couldn't find the keys to my bike lock and had to get to an appointment. I was on a busy road and only going about 4 miles away so it seemed pretty safe.

Let's all promise to never ever hitch hike again though, ok? We'll just live vicariously through this show<3

Movie Monday No.5

This is another one that I probably would have heard a lot about if we had TV. Last week at my sister's birthday the kids were shouting GNOMEOOOO AND JUUULIEEEET! and I said,"what the heck is that?!" Then I forgot about it till I was at my sister's today and she popped it in. It was instant love! I haven't even finished it yet because we packed up the kids to go to my house in the middle of it D: but I asked my niece if I could borrow it...I dunno if it's just Acacia or all 4 going on  5 year olds...but she informed me that i could just buy it...then said uuuummm maybe next time. I told her I would be seeing her the next day and she relented, jeeze!! I mean, I let this girl play with my Blythes, c'mon!!

Ok so back to the movie, it looks lovely and I hear familiar voices that I love like, Stephen Merchant and Ashley Jensen. Looking on Rotten Tomatoes I don't really understand why it has such a low rating, but I also wasn't really hearing it, with the children singing along and jumping on me, but it looks so so lovely and I want to do up my back yard magically and sew some gnomes now too :) If you like Elton John that's a plus because he was an executive producer, "... shenanigans play out to a score of classic Elton John songs (and two new ones) and a script crammed full of pop-culture references and Shakespeare puns"  So yeah, if you like that sort of thing or just want to see a really pretty animated film go for it. I'll be watching the rest of it later tonight!

Movie Monday No.4

Do see!
Super duper funny! We don't have actual TV and we don't see many advertisements so i didn't know anything about this which I kinda like, ya know not seeing all the good parts smooshed into one preview and I like to go off the recommendations of friends and family(thanks Gloria :)

We were laughing our asses off for 90 minutes and then this...
That is what it looks like when the film burns up...and no one is sitting at the projector doing their job...so then it cant be fixed, with only 30 min left of the movie :( If that wasn't aggravating enough the theater was filled with *no offense* college students? that were seriously acting like animals that have never been out in public. Ed noticed that something about the movie made the girls desperate i.e. chatting up groups of boys awkwardly...then one super annoying girl moved to the right side of the theater to do yoga...that's soooo cute right? I seriously thought I was going to tear my hair out when i realized that it wasn't part of the movie and the film was completely burned up and guys were cheering and...something about "Facebook this". GOOD GOD. Hormones make me hate people so much more than usual :/  *deep breath*

To accompany the Do See! I have a Don't See: Hall Pass Holy hell, it's terrible! not remotely funny and just...gross. You might like it if you're...maybe....a sad middle aged weekend dad douche bag???

Yay movie monday! I'm gonna hide inside for awhile :) but really do see Bridesmaids! or maybe wait till it's out on video?

Movie Monday no.3

Ok, let's see... I thought this would be appropriate after the failed rapture and all. I'm sure if it actually happened Kirk Cameron would've been one of the first people to float up!  We started out watching this movie as a joke, funny thing is it was actually pretty watchable. There's lots of drama and suspense!

Here's a few things to know about this movie if you wanna watch it. Mr. Cameron...not the best actor, I'm not sure what happened since Growing Pains but i guess when you choose to not "act for the flesh" you lose some of your sparkle. Despite my initial reaction he did a pretty good job of playing a typical "non believer".  Fireproof is basically a 2 hour ad for a book or couples counseling or something... Judging by the cast he only cares about the marriages of white and black people, but equally as both races are... almost pandering-ly... equally represented.

Ed says we should just write a summary, so here it is:

Kirk Cameron is addicted to internet pornography and he's a tiny fireman. He hates his wife and his mother. He likes his dad and is saving money for a boat, his wife could use this money for her sick mute mother, needless to say she hates him. She likes to flirt with a tall doofy  Dr. at the hospital she works at. Marriage is in shambles, he calls his dad (refuses to speak to his mother, really doesn't like her). Dad informs him in order to save his marriage he needs to follow the directions in a book he has handwritten. For forty days he has to be nice to his wife. He is half heartedly nice to his wife for 20 days and she files for divorce.

 Then Jesus.

P.s. We watched this based on the raving review of The Duggars.

Movie Monday no.2

This is one that we had put off watching for awhile since it's silent and we are usually working while we're watching, so we put everything down and snuggled with Tam, also it was only an hour so we didn't get antsy.

It's pretty crazy that this movie was was released in 1920! ...It's a German and the whole time I was thinking "the Holocaust hasn't happened yet", other than that unpleasant thought I really loved it. Besides so many aspects of it being completely ahead of it's time I just enjoy seeing something so old, the wardrobe, the actors, wondering what their daily lives were like off set, what the conversations between takes were.

If you don't feel like reading the wikipedia article(personally i could read wikipedia all day), here are the bits that I thought were the most interesting.

It is one of the most influential of German Expressionist films and is often considered one of the greatest horror movies of the early times. This movie is cited as having introduced the twist ending in cinema.

Caligari introduces the main narrative using a "frame story" in which most of the plot is presented as a "flashback", as told by Francis (one of, or perhaps, the earliest example of a frame story in film).

Writers Hans Janowitz and Carl Mayer met each other in Berlin soon after World War I. The two men considered the new film medium as a new type of artistic expression – visual storytelling that necessitated collaboration between writers and painters, cameramen, actors, directors. They felt that film was the ideal medium through which to both call attention to the emerging pacifism in postwar Germany and exhibit radical anti-bourgeois art.

If you watch it or have seen it I'd love to know how you feel about it.

Movie Monday no.1

We've been recollecting dvds that we had sold during Super Meat Boy development when we needed space and $$, this one was part of a pack. I remember this movie being on heavy rotation when me and my sister were little and all I could recall was thinking she was so pretty and wanting big boobs!! and cleavage! I'm pretty sure we've put this on while working in the past few years but we really sat down and watched it last night. It's totally hilarious, it's definitely in the same vein as PeeWee's Playhouse where there are tons of adult jokes that would have just flew over your younger self's head :) If you have a raunchy sense of humor and enjoy bad jokes I would say revisit this one and if you haven't seen it, oh my goodness! watch it!

p.s. Remember the biker mama in PeeWee's Big Adventure? That was none other than Cassandra Peterson a.k.a Elvira

I ♥ TV

...and movies! Maybe I'll hop on the bandwagon and do a weekly thing:) Anyway here's a few random shows/movies I think you should watch.

Party Down Ah gooood TV. You must watch this show if you have any sense of humor, also Lizzy Caplan is in it and she's perdy.

MicMacs Loved this of course! You should also watch Amelie, Delicatessen, and The City of Lost Children.

Spider Baby Lost in a heap of old B horror movies this one sticks out and is watchable... and good :)

Revenge of the Nerds I've had this movie on in the background a bunch of times but we actually watched it the other night and remembered it's awesomeness. Do not watch 2 and 3!

Good Hair Really funny, interesting, and just a little bit sad :/

Outrage That is what you will feel when you watch this, but it's totally worth it, you should know this stuff.

That's all for this week? I hope you were out of stuff to watch and I came to the rescue<3 Now I'm really going to bed.

Fabric + Horror movies

I went to bed feeling tired and then whats been happening is i realize I'm staring at the wall. Like now I'm not even thinking about anything I'm just awake...so i got up and took half a trazedone, i actually fell asleep but then I had a really hard time getting up and felt like a zombie for a few hours. I have circles under my eyes...oh well at least i got fabric!

Very rarely do i buy patterned fleece but c'mon OWLS! and i was digging this dahlia pattern :) I couldn't find it on the website for my local fabric store but here it is on Free Spirit.

Could not pass this fleece up!

Mmm numnums!

Harts Fabric

Oh but also before I forget I want to share some movies we've seen recently.

First, I saw The Fantastic Mr. Fox with my mom! Ooooh I loved it so much! Plus it was cheap night and now they give you free popcorn on cheap night too, whut? *high five*
The Fantastic Mr. Fox

The House of The Devil
Now for some horror Movies! The House of The Devil was good. What I really liked about it was how genuinely 80s it looked. It's very light Rosemary's baby-esque. It's pretty interesting to read up on satanic cults (wikipedia) and how there has never been any proof found that they exist. People that came out saying they'd been abused in santanic rituals were found to have dissassociative issues, kinda like people who say they've been made love to by an alien in the middle of the night :x Also the whole craze of cults was started by the religious right to get people back to church. So be good n'scared!

Inside. Super bloody! So good and over the top!
Inside

Dead Snow. Funny! and gorey and the zombies look good too :)
Dead Snow

Eden Lake. We watched this last night...I felt uncomfortable immediately and I wish I could unwatch it. not a fun one, just horrible things happening.
Eden Lake

Mr. Meaty
and a TV show, Mr. Meaty! It's so awesome, there just aren't "kids shows" with this much effort put into them anymore, more puppets pls! I hope they sell a collection soon because i CANNOT find any episodes anymore :(
