A perfect Saturday

We had a perfectly lovely Saturday. We went absolutely no where, which was nice because we had a very full day yesterday of stocking up on groceries, running errands, and our friends came over to play our new favorite game The Settlers of Catan. It's nice to have good couple friends :) Ingrid and Scott are awesome, Ingrid is thee person who, 5 years ago, encouraged me to take my sewing machine out of the box and taught me how to sew.

We last played a week ago and it was our very first time. I say that I am not good at strategy but really I havent had any practice ...I did pretty well, I almost won! So I was super excited to get another chance to play with more practice under my belt. Early in the evening before they came over I got a really bad sinus headache, it felt like my brain was going to explode out of my temple. I took benadryl , our friends showed up. We talked, set up the game and I made hot drinks. We got settled at the table, rolled the dice to see who was going first and then.......I felt like I had been drugged. I was really worried for a second that something was wrong with me and then i remembered the goddamned benadryl. I'm tellin ya! if i ever take 2 to try and help me sleep they never make me drowsy, but i take 2 with some coffee in the evening and i feel like i might be getting roofied. That kinda blew it for me, it took about 2 hours to wear off and I played slowly through...not winning.

Back to today, I made lunch and we putzed around the house. I finished an awesome new plush, that i will show you soon, while I listed to the audio version of Great Expectations (I♥it). I got on the treadmill, made dinner, and wrote a veeery long overdue letter to Cuppy(sorry!)

Saturday's are awesome because you still get mail, and amazon ships through usps, thus you get your amazon packages. Our own copy of  "Catan"  and the Barbarian expansion was waiting for us when we woke up! We were able to play a 2 player game and get some practice in. we each won a game and Ed said he was "pleasantly surprised" by my playing :D I done good ya'll.

Tomorrow(today), we'll do whatever. I dont have a dad *waaah waaah*  and Ed's dad is far away so I ain't tied down to no father's day plans.  What I normally do is spend a good part of the day reflecting heavily on how much better my life is without  having grown up with "that guy" involved in my life, pondering how terrible it could have been, and wishing I could explain this to my younger self, it would have saved a lot of heartache.

Sounds like an interesting weekend — hope you're feeling better soon!

As for the Dad thing - sounds like kind of a "my back pages" moment - I was so much older then - I'm younger than that now.
