(lol surely)
We found our very first garden snake. I wanted to keep him! He was so lovey(or very cold:) we now have a good bit of grass and a lovely flagstone area :) This spot before was completely full of weeds, huge dandelion ones and kind of an uneven slope. Now we have to decorate down there! Soon we will have steps leading down from the grass to that area and a veggie patch on the big square platform that held the last homeowners swingin' hot tub :x

With the rainy weather and it being just us two in the house again it feels all cozy and magical and the idea of having Christmas here is making us feel all wiggly! It's a damn good house<3 The yard coming together makes me feel extra good and thanks to this wonderous thing our floors are the cleanest  they've been since we moved in. That steam  mop is freakin great! I did the whole 1st level, stairs, landing and still had water in the tank! It looks like it's about $20 cheaper now too :D

I gotta get dinner started and have lots of work to do on Isaac plushes but I will be back tomorrow with a mushy love post<3

A peek at our home.

The beginning of "the wall". The first piece is my treasured cross stitch from  BeeFranck. It says, " If you don't like cats, you don't like me. I love having a dining room where we can eat dinner and play board games with our family and friends, I think it's my favorite part of the house<3
When unloading the car Ed said, "who are these flowers for?" when I told him they were mine he said,"girls are weird", to which I replied,".....you're....weird!".
I have 0 vases since we moved but my jar of all green sea glass worked perfectly!
I'm in love with this book.
I feel so thankful to have a beautiful home with a lovely dining table worthy of displaying this piece of art made by my mom, she's so talented it's ridiculous.
Newly thrifted dish and yummy cherries!
Tammy, never giving me a moments peace.
The MOST absurd mug I have EVER seen. I was almost too offended to buy it but then I got over it. Note: This is Father's  Uncle's day candy, I absolutely did not stuff it all in my mouth after this photo was taken.

Happy Saturday!

I would say caturday but Tammy's still at it. We've been in our Home for a week! Today we headed over to Home Depot and bought the outdoor table set we'd been eyeing. It was a super deal and they only had the display model left so we took it! There are 2 more chairs not pictured, I cant wait to eat dinner outside :D

Our neighbors have 2 umbrellas...isn't that kinda overkill? get over yourself! :3

I spiffed up my weight loss blog a bit. I was thinking about doing something with it since the treadmill is all set up, something for fun and to keep me accountable? We really need to get covers for the garage windows. I cut my walk short last night(we set it up at 1am) because I got super freaked out and couldn't take it anymore. Ugh I'm such a scaredy cat :/ so yes, check out my other blog if you into that sort of stuff, it will be updated later tonight. Bye!

Updated!

We have internet!

Our first night here I tried a new tea, Tazo Vanilla Rooibos , when I was buying it I totally thought it was called roobi-roos. That's what my brain saw anyway, do you ever do that ?

We snuggled up on the couch and watched I love you Phillip Morris. It was a great movie! I wonder how many people like myself when they saw the title assumed it had something to do with cigarettes... Phillip morris=the largest manufacturer of cigarettes...it doesn't have anything to do with them, but yeah.

The Tea has such a distinct flavor that the past two times I've made it it vividly reminds me of our first wonderful night here.

Guppy is a fan of memory foam. It's so hard to kick this face out of the bedroom!

 Moxie prefers my studio.

Tammy crawled into a bundled up electric blanket. When her pupils are big like this she reminds me of Falcor.

The first plush I've sewn here, a mini merbunny. I love love that copper velvet!

Last but not least a small scene from our yard. Today flowers and bark were put in, it looks so much better out there! Slowly but surely everything will come together.

Tomorrow we will possibly pick up a patio set and...........my treadmill is being delivered!! I'm looking forward to not running errands everyday and getting back to work, Ed is brainstorming very exciting things!

Moved in

Just a quick, mostly phone pics post because I'm still super tired and not nearly caught up on sleep yet. We love love love our home. It's feels extremely comfortable, i feel like I've always lived here and it's only our third night. The only small hiccup is something is up with the water heater so I haven't been able to enjoy the ginormous bathtub yet(it might be fixed). We should have internet tomorrow and then I can upload a few "real" photos of the kitties :)

My mother in law brought us two of these beautiful seahorse candle holders. I promptly put them on our new dining table. The table is so lovely, real pics of it soon.

Progress is being made in the yard!

Ed got a big ol box of Jack Chick comics in the mail today, did you know that Satan is the spiritual father of humanity!!?? There are lots of fun facts in these full color pages. One thing I know for sure is it's definitely a sin to be this tasty ;)

Lookit these 2 sun worshipers<3 All the babies have adjusted so well, no hiding at all, only exploring the minute they got in the house. We've been surprised at how great Guppy has done the past two moves since in most other aspect he's pretty nervous. We stopped to count and Guppy has actually lived in 7 different places in his eight and half years!

I'll leave you with 2, what we are calling, Full House derps. These girls really started making some crazy faces in the last season. We have 3 more discs and are on the lookout for more... derps.

We're off to take a late night walk around our new neighborhood and then it's back to work on some Meat Boy prototypes involving vinyl!

13 hours to go :x

The movers will be here in 13 hours! We did A TON today, our rental is completely cleared out except for big stuff and we ended up being able to fit more in the prius than we thought we could so we're kinda like a mover's dream. This is the last night we'll be sleeping here...tomorrow we'll be sleeping in our home, sooo wierd.

The backyard is coming together and should be lookin pretty swell by next week.

  I wanna eat this thing!
We stopped by the fabric store to get some outblack to sew to the back of our curtains. The ones we bought claim to be black out but they arent *sigh*. Then for fun I got enough of this laminated? canvas to make some oval place mats and coasters :D

We wont have any internet access until Tuesday I believe but I'll be updating a bit on flickr and twitter.
See you soon!

Really?

I am sooo sooo tired, definitely not sleeping well and everyday is full of moving and errands to run. Now added to our list of things to do is having some glass replaced on the sliding glass door. When the landscaper was weed whacking a rock completely shattered the outer pain of the stationary part. Thank goodness it is double pained so no dirt or glass got inside, the floors had just been cleaned that morning and that would have sucked a lot, i probably would have thrown myself down and cried at this point. I feel pretty bad for the guy since the work that he did will probably be equal to the cost of the window. Wow, this is really interesting right?!

All i have for you is this crappy phone pic of my brother in law looking like basement cat. This is our bedroom and those are supposed to be blackout drapes, we'll see. This is the first time we've ever not tacked towels or blankets over our bedroom window *cue The Jeffersons theme song*

Tights & kitties

Tomorrow we're meeting with a landscaper and a house cleaner for estimates. I wanted to clean everything myself but Ed convinced me to have it cleaned professionally so it's like we're really moving into a new house. And then with the landscaping, our backyard looks like it was stopped halfway through a project and then became overgrown. I'll let ya know how that goes tomorrow.

We had a bit of an uncomfortable moment today. Ok so first off, our home was sold for almost double what we paid for it when it was first built, before the crassssssh. Therefor there's very nice stuff inside it. As i said before we have these fancy pants toilets with slowly lowering lids. The cover of the tank of one of them is very broken so we figured Home Depot would have what we needed. We bring the lid in to show the guy and he *totally* rolls his eyes and was like you need to go to a specialty place....Uuuuh sorry? I swear we're normal :|

I spent the rest of the day watching Being Human with my mom<3 I would link it but I don't want to search for it and find any spoilers! We have 3 more episodes.

Catching up: We have a home

A few months before Super Meat Boy came out we started looking for homes, nothing serious, no realtor just driving around and getting a feel for what was available in town. Before this game we had talked about buying a mobile home but really it's kind of a crazy dream to think of owning a home in santa cruz, this place is expensive! When the game was released we went from thinking we could get a really nice mobile home, to an average home, to possible something better.  Early on we were looking for some listings that we had found online and saw a sign for a place that wasn't on our list. We got out and looked at it and agreed that it was a dream house. I don't know how to explain it, just like the perfect family home that you'd see on tv.  We loved it so much that we decided we would get serious and call the listing agent and call out realtor to tell her we were ready. Unfortunately the listing agent said there was a sale pending. We were very disappointed and I felt like  further house hunting was going to be one big heartache.

In the meantime we were really tired of our apartment. We had been there 6 years and with the addition of Tammy we were bursting at the seams. We decided we would move to a nice place so that we could  relax while we looked and just enjoy life after the craziness of SMB development. About  3 weeks after we moved into our "temporary house" ours dream house popped back up on the market. The previous sale fell through but those people did negotiate the price down by 50k!

Our realtor got the keys and we finally got to see inside the house! Let me preface this by saying there are a lot of OLD homes in santa cruz. Almost every other place we had looked at would have needed a ton of work, hideous kitchens with old cupboards, crummy bathrooms etc...This house is 6 years old, has an indepth inspection report with the worst thing on it being doorknob screw missing, just minimal cosmetic stuff. All the walls were painted unique colors, beautiful cupboards, deluxe dishwasher and oven, fancy toilets that have lids that lower themselves slowly, granite counters everywhere and a huge master bath with a corner tub...we were in heaven. Ed said lets go for it and it started. This is about the time i had to give up project 365, because *buying a home is stressful*.

Tommy picking a giant lemon that was growing in the backyard, we have 2 avocado, grapefruit, tangerine and and orange tree!

The first thing we had to do was meet with a broker and see what kind of loan we could get. We had good credit but a few dings on it that could easily be taken care of. Then there was the business of our taxes. We had filed an extension in 2009 and hadnt had them done yet, so we needed to file for 2009,2010, and do the business taxes before we could move forward. The title company gave us about 40 days to get this done, otheriwise we would have to pay $50 per day to stay first in line if they granted us an extension. We rushed around getting our taxes filed, at this time i really surprised myself at how much ass i kick in the grownup world. we were on track to close escrow as soon as our paperwork was filed...then I start getting some frantic emails that our 2010s have been recieved but not the 2009s this is confusing to me because i see that the IRS and friends have cashed the checks for 2009....it turns out we were sent home with a copy of our taxes to give to our broker and that's it...but our cpa thought we had a copy to send in, i just assumed they were being e-filed. So no taxes filed, our time in escrow is almost up and we need at least a couple weeks for all of this to be processed, plus it's getting closer to actual tax time so that might hold us up even more.  The day we found that out i completely lost my mind, Tommy was visiting and he got to witness this breakdown, what a lucky guy :)  We rushed to our cpa got the documents and overnighted them. Our realtor did an amazing job stalling the bank and our taxes were processed about a day shy  from out deadline.

We closed escrow on April 8th.

It was a surprise and we ran over to get our keys before i could put any makeup on ;)

We should be moving in by the 1st of May. Right now we are having the remaining carpet replaced with pergo and we've had a few rooms painted. We liked all the colors except for the master bedroom, master bath , and Ed's office. I really couldn't stand the color of the bathroom, it reminded me of pee :x

before

after, lilac

I saved the best news for last!!

This color was already there and I love it!

I was very  very reluctant to the idea of having a room all to myself and just saying my studio made me feel funny. In the past few months I've gone from working at the couch/coffee table to having a desk so just that was an adjustment.  After thinking about how long I've been making plush and how hard we've worked I really warmed up to the idea. Now it's like of course I should have a studio...this is my job, duh!

I already have an awesome desk to put in it!
