I'm back!

Hey Guys!
Welcome back to...this blog:) I was missing it and I was missing the name. I talked to Ed about it and we agreed that i'm known everywhere else on the internet as Danielleorama but I'll keep my brand/shop name Theory of Cute. I love ToC but it doesnt feel right for a personal blog. I've barely updated this year so it was super easy to transfer the posts over to here.

I have been so slammed with the Team Meat/Isaac shop, especially since the Isaac expansion came out and Indie Game: The Movie (both are on sale at the moment!). I started feeling pretty down on myself... I've been watching people in the plush community grow and for the past 2 years I've been churning out the same thing. Business is great and it's hard/stressful trying to keep up with the demand but I need a break for awhile. I closed the shop down early this month to give myself a nice long break before and after my birthday(8/14). It feels like such a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders, no pending orders, no hour long trips to the post office, no hand cramps from filling out customs forms :x

I wanted to make something new, but there are still so many "Ed game" related things I want to make so the first thingI made for fun was a Harlequin Baby (it's a familiar from The Binding of Isaac, don't google it or you will see disturbing images).

That was fun! I especially like how the mouth turned out. I want to grow in my construction skills so I  tried using the ball pattern and attaching a body.

For my next piece I wanted to expand on that design, something embryionic and I had a clear vision of an umbilical cord in my mind, everything else happened very organically. That's how most things I do happen since I'm not the greatest at drawing it's hard to sketch something out and my ideas dont seem to flow out of my hands that way.

By the time he was finished he clearly looked like a squirrel to me and thus Squire The Newborn Squirrel was created. I was so happy with him and felt so good for stepping out of my comfort zone and making something new. Even though I thought he was adorable I was quite sure that he would have no fans and people would think he was too weird or ugly.

I posted the photos of him the next day and was bracing myself for "eew that's weird" comments, but to my surprise people loved him and one of my most loyal customers reserved him right away. It was a great moment to be rewarded for staying true to myself and if that wasnt enough a few days later I was featured on Mr. X Stitch's Too Cute Tuesday post. I read it right before I was going to bed and it totally made my week.

I plan on getting some sewing in tonight and I also need to work out like whoa! Thanks for coming back/reading<3

The Go! Team

Just found these guys last week and I love em! It's been pretty quiet over here, busy fulfilling Isaac orders. The super sets sold out in record time. I put 2 Cain super sets up as well.

Last night I took a little break to make a sweet eyeball wreath that I first saw on OhMyDeer! I added 2 cockroaches for good measure ;)

Back to work! This week I have an exciting announcement to make...stay tuned!!

The Binding of Isaac // It's Time!

Yay! In a few hours The Binding of Isaac will be live and for sale on Steam! This is Ed's first game since Super Meat Boy, it was a small project that turned into 3 months of development. I've said it before but I have to say it again, I feel so lucky to get to see these games come to life from scribbles on a page. I remember Ed asking my opinion on 3 different looks for Isaac, thinking maybe he didn't want to continue working on it, to my playing it for hours a day and beating it! It's like having your significant other make a toy just for you and you cant get enough of it. I know some people wont get it but SO many people are gonna love it!

I've been working on limited edition plush that will be listed in Ed's shop soon. I'm planning on including random familiars and items with them, like "brother bobby" and "sister maggie" that you see above :) I love this game!

Check out the awesome/creepy trailer our friend JamesID made

and the gameplay trailer, but really just play it!

P.S. I just reached 200 google readers!! and will be celebrating with a giveaway very soon!

Plush // This time last year

I don't always make a lot of seasonal stuff, usually because I'm not thinking that far ahead. I was looking through my flickr  tonight and was reminded these guys, they're pretty darn cute if I do say so myself. I can't believe it's already going to be October, this year has flown by!
Candy corn for Tiny Plush Tuesday in the Etsy Plush Team shop.
A custom order for one of my favorite customers<3
 Zombie Owl Brooch
I don't know why but something about them when they're together strikes me that they've been reformed and are all holding stable jobs in realty, banking, car sales, and 1 of them has a profitable pet sitting business. I'm not one to judge and if i were I honestly couldn't tell who does what, but I'm glad they're staying out of trouble!

Last but not least, Reformed Movie Monsters. I actually made Frank and Drac last August per Ed's request and the mummy and werewolf followed suit. I loved them so much and they sold as a set in record time, within like 10 minutes of being listed! The wolfman was definitely my fave :D

That's nice

Hello there,
I was in a crappy mood pretty much all day yesterday but last night and today I have had such nice comments/messages from people, some I know, some I don't. To top it off a stranger mailed my ID to our po box, I didn't even realize it was missing. I find it pretty amazing that somebody went through the trouble to do that when sometimes it seems that people can't be bothered to do one simple act of kindness. I think there are probably a few people that think I'm blunt... a bitch but that's just because I don't waste kindness on people who don't deserve it and I'm a pretty good judge of character ;) I really do try my very best to be a sweet and genuine person so thank you to everyone who has lifted my spirits.

Listening to The Graveyard Book while I work.

Newly acquired vintage piggy bank from Ed<3
 Prototyping Isaac badges :)

Tomorrow I'm starting a 28 Things About Me feature. I'm excited! Ed is helping, you'll see!!

Prototypes!

Last night I sewed and it was glorious, well maybe not glorious but it was pretty good. When I haven't sewn for awhile I  get such a lil surge of good feelings when I hear my machine humming. And then going downstairs and showing Ed the finished product is awesome too. These are prototypes for The Binding of Isaac, remember when I posted about it? There are more characters and items that I want to make too :D They'll be for sale in Ed's shop once the game comes out(mid September).

In other sewing news we finally hung up my thread holder! It's so awesome and definitely gives me motivation to get my studio in shape! I know everyone loooves craft room photos so I'll work on it :D

New plush

Meet Romeo! He's probably the most romantic guy you'll ever meet, very thoughtful too. He'll always remember your birthday ,favorite flowers and perfume. Whata guy!!...He's been working out, can you tell?
Meet Cheyanne! she loves tumbling through the currents in the moonlight and muching on salted sea cucumbers :D

These two have already been adopted by wonderful homes, but I will have more plush in the shop soon!

Renaud, The Red Panda

This is the fella I was telling you about,Renaud, my very first Red Panda! If he looks scared that's because he is. He's terrified of heights! He would prefer to held (tightly please) since his hands are so tiny he can't grab on too much. In return for keeping him safe he'll give you a lovely back massage with what he calls, his "magic fingers", you wont know when he's started or stopped but your back will feel amazing.

My lil gnomies

As promised, I made my bubs (niece and nephew) each a gnome. I really like the way they turned out! I can't wait to give them to them tomorrow morning. I also doodled a little bit :)

I'm waking up at 10am tomorrow D: that's like 4am for a normal person. Me and my sister and the kids are driving for 3 hours to see my grandma, she had surgery recently and I haven't been to Sacramento in like 4 years. It wont be too long of a visit but I'm hoping to go again soon for a few days and get some serious thrifting, antiquing, and flea markets in!

I may be back for Movie Monday, but I'm not making any promises. I still have a quite a few things to do before bed.

Some new creatures :)

Nestle Beaverling

Nestle Beaverling, for some reason this color combo makes me hungry :)

Penny Merbunny
Penny Merbunny
Penny Merbunny, I really love her. She might be my favorite mer-animal that I've made and I love that button on her ear, it's so sunny.

ZOMBIE KITTY!
ZOMBIE KITTY!
ZOMBIE KITTY! I've never made a zombie anything before, better late than never! I really like how he turned out especially his bone leg :)

I visited at my sister's for a bit today. Acacia is learning the art of jokes, especially knock-knock jokes. The best one she had today was "knock knock, who's there? acacia, acacia who? acacia BUTT!" she thought that was really hysterical. A few months ago there was no comedy, the punchline was acacia grace, her middle name, so she's learning :) She also wanted me to keep telling her jokes like, "how do you make a kleenex dance?" and then the would laugh before the punchline. Let it be known that I totally biffed it and said,"how do you make a boogie dance".

We watched F is for Fake tonight....it was alright I guess, I mostly just liked everything in the background, mainly an amazing white cuckoo clock that was shown twice.

I made the mistake of not blow drying my newly cut bangs when i got out of the shower and now they're sitting like perm on my head.

4am...almost my bedtime...nightnightxoxo
